OUR PRIVACY POLICY

At HealthPartners, we want you to feel comfortable and secure when you visit our site. We've created this Web privacy policy to help you understand what information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it and what choices you have concerning our use of it.

Your Personal Information

Personal information refers to specific facts used to identify you as an individual. This information includes your name, address or HealthPartners member identification (ID) number. We collect personal information over the Internet only when you supply it to us, and we use it in the following ways:

E-mails

This online program provides you with the opportunity to receive communications from us or third parties. For example, you have the option of signing up for motivational e-mail messages that will be sent only if you choose to participate. If you'd rather not receive these messages, simply indicate your preference at registration, or at any time, by updating your user profile. As part of your preference flexibility, you'll always have the option to opt back in.

E-mails you send to us via the e-mail links on our site may be shared with a Customer Service representative, employee, medical expert or agent who can address your inquiry. We make every effort to respond in a timely fashion once your e-mail is received. When we've responded to your e-mail, we may discard or archive it depending on the nature of your inquiry. The e-mail functionality on our site doesn't provide a completely secure and confidential means of communication. It's possible your e-mail may be accessed or viewed by another Internet user while in transit to us. If you wish to keep your e-mails private, don't use our e-mail, instead, send a letter by U.S. mail or call our Member Services.

Registration

When you register for your secure member Web page, we collect your name and member number so we can link you to your health plan data. For security, we also collect a password that you create, and a security question that you create to which only you know the answer. All registration information is kept permanently in a secure database that's maintained by HealthPartners.

Prescription Refills

By clicking on Complete Check Out, you confirm that you're the patient named or are an authorized caregiver for that patient. You also confirm that all the information is correct. HealthPartners isn't liable for the submission of false or unauthorized refills ordered through this site.

Nonpersonal Information

To learn what areas of our site are most popular, we collect anonymous, nonpersonal data about the pages you go to. We do this through the use of cookies--small files that are placed on your computers hard drive. Each cookie is automatically deleted after a period of time or when you close your Web browser. If you don't want to accept cookies, you can set your browser to do so. If you do this, youll still be able to visit parts of our site, but you won't be able to view areas that require you to accept a disclaimer or to log in.

By combining anonymous information from you and other individuals who participate in the program, we can create aggregate statistical data. Non-identifiable aggregate demographic information, such as the number of visitors of a certain age and gender, is used to conduct program and process evaluation to enhance our service and program quality, improve the content of our site, or determine future program offerings.

How does HealthPartners protect my information?

We permit access to your personal information by our staff and others only to the extent they need information to administer your health plan, facilitate treatment, make payment or provide other services to you, or to comply with legal and regulatory or accreditation requirements. Whenever possible, we de-identify or encrypt your personal information so you can't be personally identified. We maintain a variety of physical, electronic and procedure safeguards designed to protect your personal information and prevent unauthorized access.

Technical Safeguards

HealthPartners uses an industry standard technology call secure sockets layer (SSL) to guarantee the integrity and confidentiality of the information you give us. SSL encrypts all communications between HealthPartners and your Web browser, so no one can eavesdrop on the information we exchange with you. SSL is used on all parts of the site that ask you for personal information, send you confidential information or require you to log in for further access. SSL comes in different strengths. HealthPartners uses 128-bit SSL--the strongest available version.

Employee Code of Conduct

When you submit personal information over our Web site, the only people who are allowed to see it are those who need it in order to provide the information or service you requested. We may need to share your personal information to comply with legal, regulatory or accreditation requirements.

Childrens Privacy

Our Web site is not targeted toward, designed or intended to attract children under the age of 13. We won't allow children under the age of 13 to register on our site for any purpose, or to access any features that require registration. We require visitors to indicate their year of birth to register. If we learn we inadvertently collected identifying personal information from a child under the age of 13, we'll promptly delete that information from our system.

What about links to other sites?

For you reference, this Web site may contain links to Web sites operated by third parties. The inclusion of any link doesn't imply endorsement by HealthPartners of that Web site. This Privacy Policy applies only to this Web site. Please be aware that HealthPartners isn't responsible for and has no control over the privacy policies and practices of third party sites. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that requests personal information from you.

Who should I call if I have other questions?
